Overnight Crème Brûlée French Toast
Ingredients:
1 loaf French bread, sliced into 1-inch thick slices
5 large eggs
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
Directions:
Arrange the slices of French bread in a single layer in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture over the bread slices, ensuring all are evenly soaked. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and maple syrup, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Pour this mixture over the soaked bread.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the bread is puffed up and the edges are golden brown.
Serve warm, ideally with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of extra maple syrup.
