Heart-Shaped Breadsticks for Valentine’s Day
Ingredients:
1 pound store-bought pizza dough or homemade bread dough0
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs (basil, oregano, thyme)
1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional: 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese for topping
Directions:
Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Take the dough out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes; this makes it easier to handle.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
To shape the breadsticks into hearts, take each strip and fold it into a heart shape, pinching the ends together at the bottom to secure. Place each heart-shaped breadstick on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried herbs, and salt. Brush this mixture generously over each breadstick.
If desired, sprinkle the tops with shredded mozzarella cheese for extra cheesiness.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. These charming breadsticks are perfect for adding a touch of romance to your Valentine’s Day meal.
